I have a 1990 Volvo 240 DL wagon and about a month ago my check engine light kept coming on and off - at the same time when I would start the car in the AM it would not keep on running on the first try - it would stop and then I would start it again and then it would be ok. Went to a Volvo dealer in Savannah and they cleaned the throttle plate and adjusted it. I asked them if it was the air flow meter but they said no that it was ok.
Then last week-end I was driving on I-95 and the car sort of "gasped" and I thought I was going to come to a stop but it continued on and then I noticed that my check engine came on and it hs not turned off since. However, now when I start my Volvo in the AM it starts on the first try but the "check engine" light is still on. Could the problem be the "air flow meter"? Anybody have any ideas?
