What is this black canister? 900 1991

Me again,


Another question..I notice this balck canister mounted close tto the radiator on the driver side..it has two hose and it's connected on top of the throttle body..is this the flame trap? If so..how do i clean this? do i just unhook the hoses and dump whatever is in the can..thanks. Oh..also what is an IAC motor..i notived that the previous owner had a reciept for it and it's been replaced in my car?
