After reading Don Foster's notes on jumping a failed fuel pump relay in an emergency, I wondered if anyone has jumped a radio suppression relay in the same manner.
I'm looking at a schematic for the 2.4 system. The RSR has a four wire plug. Terminal 1 (BL) is the ground. Reading counter clockwise, # 2 (BL/Y in my car)is from ECU, # 3 (GR/R) is to INJectors and #4 (R) is from BATtery. When energized, the relay closes the circuit from #4, BAT to #3, INJ, providing constant battery power to the injectors. The relay energizes on KEY ON and stays energized until KEY OFF.
In the event of a relay failure, is there any reason why BAT, # 4, and INJ, #3 can't be jumped, in much the same manner as a fuel pump relay?
Next part of the question. Is the relay designed to drop out, or even fail, under certain conditions, e.g., overvoltage, to protect the devices they power?
Just wondering.
