ENGINE STOPS ABRUPTLY - UNPREDICTABLY 200 1986

Intermittent stalls associated with acrid odor. Seems to be from vicinity of ignition coil / relays on fender near the coil. Engine runs fine then abruptly stops - unpredictably. On one occasion was difficult to start between events.
