1991 240 sometimes hesitates 200

From time to time (once a week) this well maintained car (68,000 miles)will almost stall after stopping for a red light. I happens as soon as you accelerate after the stop. Sometimes you may hear a pop before it gains power. It almost never stalls out but comes close to it. The car was tuned (new wires, dist cap etc) and I recently installed a rebuilt mass air sensor (AMM). Any other ideas?
