radiator 200

hi,

a few weeks ago i noticed car running hot and opened the hood to find that
the coolant is empty..fill it..
took it to mechanic for routine bushing replacement explained problem
said radiator will need replacement..
how long can i go with leaky radiator..side effects..should i get replaced immediately

all advice welcome
