I was feeling pretty confident that I could hunt down my no spark condition, being a mechanic. Well, my confidence, and self asteem, has flown the nest. My '760 turbo wagon is still sitting.
Here's the story:
I have 12v at the coil and the coil has ohm'd good. I have removed the distributor and heard the injectors fire. Hall effect passes right??? I then swapped parts from my '91 740 turbo organ donor. Also while testing, I proceeded to blow up a coil. No kidding, it actually blew black goo over the inner fender. This happened during a wiggle test of the connector directly under the coil. Luckily, it didn't hit either of us.
Also, any input towards compatibility between the 87 and 91 will be appreciated. I am thinking of swapping engines this winter. The 91 was just rebuilt 20,000 miles ago.
