Speedometer reading fast with new overdrive transmission? 200

I just put in an M46 in a 1980 245 that once had a 3 spd automatic. Now, while on the freeway, the speedometer seems to read considerably fast, about 10 mph. Also it seems to get more and more inaccurate the faster I travel. No other changes have been made to the car besides the new transmission. Can someone explain why this is happening, and what I can do to fix the problem? Thanks!
