Unusual roof rack for wagon stolen and recoverd 200 1986

My 245 is equipped with à roof rack wuich was available from the dealership as an option. It is not the common rack which is permanently screwed into the rack but rather a rack which is built like an aluminium ladder with 14 rungs. Each rung is approximately six inches from the next, the wole thing is latched on to the roof of the wagon by six vise like clamps.

Somebody stole my canoe which was strapped on and shackled with a lock to this rack. Since the clamps were hard to unscrew,or in order to save time some kind of lever was used to pry open the jaws of the clamps damaging them in the process. The canoe, the rack and the sawed off shackle were recovered by the police but the rack is not usable unless the clamps are fixed. I have not seen any rack like this one but in Scandinavia.

Would anyone know who makes or sells these and where in Europe or North America the parts can be obtained?
