Smoke from manifold after turbo replacement 700 1989

I have a 1989 765t on which I just replaced the motor mounts, exhaust manifold gaskets, and reinstalled the rebuilt turbo. It had been sitting for a few months, and took a long time to start. (Darn happy I have a recharger in the garage) When it did start, everything sounded smooth and I backed it out of the garage. I popped the hood once more to make sure everything looked good and saw a fair amount of smoke coming from around the 2nd and 3rd exhaust ports. I took a closer look and smell and it smelled of burning oil, not of exhaust. I tried to take a look from underneath to see if I could determine where it was coming from, but I couldn't. Once I shut the car off, the smoke continued, until the engine cooled down a bit. What is down below the manifold that could be leaking oil? I'm pretty sure it's too low for the turbo oil return, but otherwise, I don't know what could be in there.

Thanks for any help.

-Eric
