I took the extra flame trap "cup" and took the razor to it. I sliced the larger part of the cup off and inserted a (approx.) 3" piece of 1/2"(?)brass pipe in to the end of the newly sliced "cup" (only 1/2 way in). I then took the other intacked flame trap "cup" and fully inserted the pipe onto it. I mounted the sliced half onto the oil box and wowwie whata a improvement! I then to my flame trap (with the center popped out) and placed it in to the new, and improved, extended flame trap holder. I had to remove the flame trap a couple more time in order to make the new vac hose sizes, but it was very simple due to the new location. The flame trap now sits in between the intake rails 2 & 3.
Very easy todo took all of 20 minutes(including the time to locate my missing hacksaw)Cost $0. Thanks for the tips BC it worked nicely. Hmmm now i wonder if i should atetempt to remove the brown dash in my parts 87 245 and paint it for my 85 245........
Oh to all who responded to my "popping in left front post" Thanks. It turns out it was loose lug nuts! go figure.
