I am in the process of troubleshooting my Ignition system in my 170k 85' 240 in relation to a cutting out- stalling problem I had. The good news is that the car now doen't start or it starts when completly cold and stops after 5-6 seconds I have changed almost anything in relation to the fuel injection system from ECU to Fuel pumps to FPR etc. It doesn't seem to be a fuel problem. The only thing that has remained now it the ignition system. So far I done the following tests in the ignition system
*Ignition coil resistance measures 10K primary and 1.8-1.9 Ohms secondary.
*Distributor cap and rotor in good shape.
*New spark plug wires
*New spark plugs
Engine cranks but doensn't start. There is an obvious smell of gas. Distributor pickup seems to be working since I get spark when connector in on and no spark when it is off. Spark seems kind of weak. Power from ignition switch at 12V and 7-10V during cranking.
I don't know what else to try. BTW I have a used Ignition computer in the mail which I hope it might solve the problem.
Any thoughts...
Thanks
Mike
