what can of things can occur of the gas has water in it 700

I recently went to get gas and the next day my car starting stalling. Its a 1989 780 turbo. It would just cut out when driving or idling. Count about ten seconds and you can start it up. Not sure but drove to a different gas station and added $10 of fuel and it seems to have either subsided or happened much less frequently. I had alreadly swapped out my fuel pump relay..etc...
Has anyone ever had water in the fuel and what were the symptoms..thanks..Jeffry
