Brake light prob 200 1979

Hi all, I had my rear brake light go out this week, I replaced it, Now I get my orange bulb-out light flashing for a split second when I hit the brake, I cant tell if the light is hesitating or not. Any clues, ever happen to anyone? The sockets have been cleaned and seems to have a good connection, The light flashes on usually the first time I hit the brakes, if I ease off and on, the light doesn't come on..just that first tap I get it.
