wierd OD disengagement when braking hard 700

1985 745t m46

Like the title says, braking hard will cause the OD to disengage physically (tach goes up, no OD apparent), although the light remains on and it is apparently "still active". After a few moments of acceleration the OD will then reengage (tach drops, OD apparently active) and all will be fine.

I've had this OD reconditioned with the newer pistons (wider o-ring groove, wider o-rings) and kept in good shape. This problem is thus a mystery for me.

I'm thinking I just need to drain the OD and clean out the screen, etc. Is there something else that I should look at while I'm doing this?

Thanks,
rt
