I just recently picked up a new AC compressor for $30 at the junk yard and I'm currently charging the system with R134. To remove the air in the system I'm going to use a little trick from the refining industry. That is fill the system up and then depressure. Do this twice and 99% of the air will be removed. I'm only going to use one can to pressure it up so I don't waste too much. I know this works since I do it on my processing plant at work, but can someone comment on the ease of doing it this way compared to using a vacuum pump. Since I don't have a vacuum pump, is $20 to air free the system cheaper?
Thanks.
