which is easier to diagnose..lh 2.2 or lh 2.4 700

I was thinking of buying a used 1989 or 1990 760 wagon..I have a 780...it can drive you nut when you have a problem with no codes on the turbo..lh 2.2 Is the lh 2.4 a much better system..thanks..Jeffry
