Brake light switch adjustment '!@#$%' 200

I'm trying to adjust the pedal activated brake light switch, something that seemed like it would be a simple process at the time. I've removed the knee bolster, but still find myself needing either some funny shaped tools or some serious bodily contortions to do what I want to do. Will someone please tell me there's a simple way to do this, and then tell me what that way is.
