You may have read in my previous posts - I replaced my header muffler pipe.
In doing so, at one point, I had to take my entire muffler out to work on getting rusted-in bolts out of the flange on the catalytic muffler section. Just after taking the rear 75% of my muffler off including the 02 sensor (broken header piece still on), I started the car and pulled it out of the garage I was in. It worked fine (hehe... except for the loud roar of the exhaust).
A half hour later when I was done in the garage helping a friend, I went out to start her up and get her to my driveway, when wouldn't you know it she won't start.
What it was like when not starting: it would almost crank up a few times, like it did get started but ran real rough - from my very limited knowledge and experience I'd say it wasn't getting fuel or something. Battery power seemed a little low, but more than enough to get it started (I even have tried starting it later after charging my battery too - still no go).
I have checked the fuse for my fuel pump, and other fuses seem fine as well. Was a time I thought the 02 sensor may have been bad, but I have come to learn that what has happened to the 02 sensor should not affect whether the car will start. Indeeed, my cat. is old, but the screen just inside of it looked OK when I had it out, so I really don't think it's that.
When I did finally get the muffler and old 02 sensor all back together, I again got in my car and crossed my finger as I turned the key. No start - starter cranks away but no go - same symptoms. I'm pretty new at all this and was pretty happy to have dirtied my knuckles a little getting my muffler back together. Now I'm at a loss with this situation - no apparent cause for not starting to be found in what I did, yet it seems a tremendous coincidence to have this happen right after muffler job.
Thats why I'm posting on the board to see if anyone has had any similar experience, or aside from that some things to check that could be wrong based on my crazy coincidence of a story.
Thanks bricksters for reading my plea for help.
Regards,
Travis
