What a day, all this worry over ants, and now exhaust! 200 1986

Ok, my exhaust broke at the intake pipe to the front muffler on the '86 240DL. This is obviously a bummer for a poor student, but whatever. My idea is to find a pipe to take the place of the front muffler. My rear muffler is only a year and a half old, so I don't really want to redo the whole system when it's just the front muffler. Anyone have the sizing specs and the bend to make this work? is it just dumb? Just an idea, but I thought it would be cheaper and give a slightly better exhaust tone too. thanks again
