I have a leak on top and bottom at the flange that connects the exhaust manifold to the turbo (Mits TD04). I also have a leak where the turbo joins the down pipe.
I feel I can do the job myself, but apparently there are no gaskets between turbo and man. and turbo and down pipe. Do the mating surfaces need to be prepped somoehow? Why would they be leaking? I've purchased the 4 nuts to mount the turbo to the mani, and they cost $12 CAD each!!
The P.O. had the exhaust manifold gaskets changed last year, but they're not leaking. It seems to me that the job was done poorly, the currently leaking fittings would've been separated in order to do the manifold gaskets. Should I go back to the shop with the receipt and try to negotiate fixing the leaks?
I've included a pic of the turbo model with green arrows to point out the current leaks (on top)...
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks,
Chris
