power lock problem, volt gauge install 200

I was just installing a new clock (small type, to right of instrument cluster) and while the wires were unattached the red and black wire touched. stupid, stupid, stupid, I know. If I had disconnected the negative battery lead it shouldn't have been a problem. After I was done putting the clock in and went to lock the doors, the power locks didn't work. Is there a possibility I just killed part of my car's electrical system? I've sunk quite a bit of change into it already, so I'm a little freaked out. Any checks I can do to determine possible damage? My other question is on volt gauge installation. My 240 gl didn't come with a volt gauge, but I bought one and want to know how to hook it up. Any wires I need to buy? How much wiring might I have to run? Thanks for any advice, I'm always impressed by the amount of good information I get here!
