Gunked Turbo question 700

This is what I see when I remove the Air Intake hose coming from the AMM to my Garett Turbo. I did that after finding that the car had run without an Air Filter for awhile and a slice 1/2 way down the turbo intake hose below the clamp. Should I cringe mildly at this or cry openly? How much gunk is normaly in there? There wan't any play with the blades.
