244 gear shift stucked in park 200

Looking for some help with my gear shift. Auto trans on 1992 244 with 130000 miles, every so often , my gear shift will not allow me to shift out of park. With the brake on, the "release button" on the gear shift will not depress. I turn the car off, restart, and most of the time it releases. It happens very randomly, but has increased in the last month. Thanks for any advice.
