Question for oil viscousity experts

Once again I have another question to ask. I'm using Mobil 1 currently, due for my 3rd oil change with a synthetic. Car has 240K km on it. Mobil 1 here in Malaysia comes in 5W-50 and 0w-40. (I think Australia is the same) I first used 5W-50 then switched 0W-40 for the 2nd oil change. No significant oil consumption with either weight. I also rarely rev my car more than 3000 rpm. Ambient temp here ranges from 27 C to 33 C. Sorry for those using Fahren., don't know the conversion at the top my head. But for those in the US maybe this equates to Florida or Texas maybe? (not that I've been there BTW)

According to the nice chart in the manual Volvo recommends 10W-40 for where I live. 10W-40 is difficult to source around here for both dino or synthetic which I find odd as if the oil companies are not doing their homework.

From the archives there seems to be pros and cons for both weights which made me even more confused. What I like to know is for where I live which of the two weights (0W-40 vs 5W-50) would you suggest that would achieve as close to what volvo recommends?

As always many thanks to all.

Aslan - in Malaysia.
