teather strap anchor...how do I install it?? 700 1986

I just purchased the anchor that needs to be installed in the back of the seat of my 1986 740 wagon so I can use the teather strap for our toddler's car seat, but unlike other models the "little plastic plug" that would indicate where I install it is not present in my car. I purchased the anchor kit from our local Volvo dealer and he showed me the general location to look, but no good ideas of how to find it precisely without destroying the upolstery...any help would be greatly appreciated!
