940 handbrake query 900 1991

I'm concerned about the handbrake on my 91 940GL sedan. Is it normal for the car to move forward or backward a little after applying the handbrake and the transmission in park? My car does this. Also if I have the rear wheels off the ground with the handbrake on I can move both rear wheels about an inch in either direction and when it stops there is a metal clunking sound. Shouldn't they be tight and unable to move?
The reason I ask these questions is that I'm trying to chase down a clunking sound from the back and I'm wondering if perhaps the hand brake shoes or something is moving about and causing the noise.

Thanks for any advice.

Brad
