More alternator woes, i really need this thing back on the road. (help) 200

1984 245ti. ok, so i now know that the thing in the way of the alt. is the oil pressure sender and that is is loose. I dont know if i did this or if it was like this already, but there is definately oil seeping out, although this could have been the case before i touched it because it's always leaked a little. tightened up, the joint points down, loose it points up. I seem to remember seeing it pointing up before i touched anything but i cant remember. it wont go all the way up because there is a metal hose in the way, i cant just get longer belts for the alt because the cooling fan will cut through coolant lines that sit next to it . basically for those who dont know, i cant get the alternator back in and connected because the oil pressure sender is in the way and makes getting the belts back on impossible (too tight a fit), i screwed around with this today and tried to get it to work but am really at wits end. should the sensor be butted up tight against the oil filter? perhaps i have to take the sensor off and then tighten the joint and then re-attach it closer to the filter and under that metal line? please someone help, im so unfamiliar with this car it's rediculous and it scares me to mess with anything, also its a turbo which = a pain and i dont want to mess anything else up. any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone lives in the Milwaukee area and could give me a hand or knows of a knowledgable and inexpensive mechanic, that would be of great help. I really need this repaired before it gets cold as im working outside, not in a garage. thanks in advance
