'78 262C Steering Box Seal and Fuel Sender Questions 200 1978

I traced a power steering fluid leak to the top of the steering box. Is there a seal or gasket that a mortal can replace to stop the leak? Chilton's mentioned shims and intricate measurements when working on the steering box. I just want to stop the leak.

Also, I'm replacing the sending unit in the tank due to it being very rusty (sitting in half a tank of gas for seven years). What is the secret handshake on dealing with the return hose on the sender? It's a plastic hose on a barb fitting encased in a rubber hose. If I cut it off, what's the best way to get it reattached to the new unit?
