Rear engine crankshaft seal question...... 200

I installed a new rear engine crankshaft seal in my 78 242 B21 engine.

I used the old seal as a contact to tap the new one in. Inadvertently, I pressed the new one in further thatn the old one was - about 1/8" further.

It is in nice and even all around - but is it ok where it is seated?

Do I need to remove it?

Can it be removed without damaging it (this I doubt)

Thanks in advance...
