headlights gradually dim and then go bright 200 1993

While cruising at 65 mph, the headlights on my 93 245 gradually go dim and then instantly go bright. This cycle takes about a couple of minutes. I have a new adjustable regulator, but the battery is a few years old. New belts and I think all are adjusted correctly. Could this be the battery? It cranks fine and holds a charge.
