My car stalls if... 900

...i only press the gas lightly but when i stomp on it it goes..what could be the problem..it only happens in the morning when my car sits there cold and have been sitting there overnight..the rest of the time..i could press on the gas lightly and it wouldn't stall..what coud be the problem?
