egr faulty?? 900 1996

after an engine change from b230fk to b230ft on my 1996 940, I am getting a fault code 4-1-3, meaning egr temp signal faulty or missing. the thing is I don't have an EGR installed, not on the ft engine and not on the previous one.
what is the meaning of this and how can I get rid of it?
