Electrical 'ghost' - 740 turbo 700 1987

I am working on my sister's '87 740 wagon. It has a strange electrical problem. When the high beams are turned on, the lamps on the passenger side grow dim. The high beam switch also causes the windshield wipers to come on -- all three of them. I tried replacing the turn signal switch (needed to anyway because of a broken hazard switch), but this did not solve the problem. Any idea where to start looking? Thanks!
