I read recently in an older BB post that when installing spark plugs in a 200 series head (aluminum) it is risky to use an anti-seize compound on the threads of the spark plug.
The reasoning offered was that there was significant risk of over- torqueing the plug given the reduced friction, which in turn could/would lead to improper seating of the plug. An incomplete seal and inefficient heat transfer would result. If anti seize compound is used despite these risks, it was suggested that the torque figure used should be 40% lower than normal.
If anyone has done some semi-serious thinking about this topic I would be glad to know what you think of the risks and benefits of using the anti-seize compounds in this application. Thanks.
