engine code 3-1-1....speedo signal? 200 1989

so that's the engine problem now on my girlfriend's '89 240DL. The computer said before that the O2 sensor and vehicle speed sensor were bad, so I replaced those, and now those codes are gone (after resetting the thing and driving a long ways this weekend). BUT, when I check to make sure that all is well, I get code 3-1-1, telling me that the speedo signal fails. The speedo works fine, and I didn't notice and problems at all driving the car this weekend--it ran wonderfully. So what gives? Is this really a problem, and how can I fix it? thanks yet again....one of these days both my Volvo and my girlfriend's will actually run WELL again....heck, it's only been a month since they've started failing!
