Hello everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and ask a question of you all. First I am Keith and I recently purchased a 1984 Vovlo 240 GL. Not to much of an car guru but this thing is in pretty mint condition. The guy I bought it from was a fanatic and kept the thing spotless. I live in New Hampshire where they like to cover the road with salt and this baby doesn't have a touch of rust anywhere. He also included a ton of manuals and books about the 240. He had two green shop repair guides, a Chilton repair manual, and best of all the original window sticker from 1984 that tells like the MPG and all the features and best of all the price ($14,995 i believe). Anyway if you guys wanna check it out I posted a picture of it on my website. http://www.angelfire.com/pro/ekoostic/volvo1.jpg and http://www.angelfire.com/pro/ekoostic/volvo2.jpg. The only things I know about it is it has a M46 transmission which he claimed was one of the best. If anyone else could give me any info about this particular car that would be awesome.
The question I had though was it is my first manual car so I am still getting used to it. The other day I was out driving and the head of the stick shift popped off rendering my OD useless. If anyone has a trick for getting the head to stay on there and keep from coming off I would love to hear it. My dad used to own a 240 wagon and it did the same thing. He would just be driving down the road fixing it with needle nose pliers but being a novice standerd driver I don't really have the concentration for fixing that and shifting. Any help would be great, thanks.
