Turn signal stalk won't always return 200

Like the subject line says. It is not a consistent problem, and it can happen for both left and right turns. Also, when it does return it 'clicks' louder than I appreciate. I have replaced the mechanism once, but the problem(s) persisted. Is there a known fix to this?
