accelerator cable install 200

Good Morning!

I am about to replace the acc. cable on my 240 later today. Since I have never done this job on any car before, can anyone offer any tips, advice etc. It looks pretty easy. I do have a question regarding installing the new cable. Do I need to apply grease/WD-40 etc. to the new cable to get the little "knob" on the end to slide all the way to the passenger compartment? Use a coathanger too??? What about the cable adjustment after completing - any issues potentially?
