Well after a call from the wife saying the Coolant was a dark brownish color in her 93 945, my heart sank, thinking it was oil in the coolant. The dollar signs where spinning in my head as i thought about how much the head gasket replacement or a new block would cost.
After a quick inspection i was relieved to find it was tranny fluid in the coolant. So i jumped on the internet to consult teh all powerful Brick Board. It so happened a guru was online(B.C). I was told the 940 and 240 radiators had the same P/N(woohoo s i have a 87 parts car with a good rad).
The removal was very simple for both cars, but the instalation is another story.
I found that the 940 radiator is quite a bit larger than a 240's radiator. However, the 940 had the mounting point for BOTH radiators but the fan did not. The 240 Radiator also did not have a temp sensor for the electic fan, so i had to install a switch (i hope she remembers to turn it on). I also had to "modify" the eletric fan a bit to fit properly, but all is well. in the morning i will be returing to the in-laws to finish the job ,install fluids and then re flush the system.
At least i got experiance retrofiting a 240 radiator into a 940. My ramble is now complete, thanks for suffering through it :-)
