Speaking of spark plugs... 900 1996

There was a post the other day about spark plugs for the 960, i.e., the book lists one thing and parts stores stock another. My question is, has anyone noticed what affect plug choice has on how their 960 runs? Is it necessary to use the original four-prong plugs at $15 each? The manual suggests plug changes every 30k, more if city/high speed driving. I'm not trying to be cheap (okay, I guess I am), but wondering what difference it really makes. What about running the latest Bosch +4? Or similar from Nippon Denso or NGK? Any thoughts/experience appreciated.
