This summer I got a 740 Turbo. The cruise did not work when I got it. Today I thought I had better get it fixed for a long Thankgiving day trip. I was lucky -- I found and fixed a split hose end at the brake pendal air valve. I took it out for a drive and found that it would not turn off when I hit the brake or turned off the cruise switch. I could stop ok but the engin had fairly high RPMs. I could see that the vacuum servo unit was engaged (that is, was pulling on the throtle). I disengaged both hoses from the vacuum pump and drove home to look at the hose connections on my '90 240 (no turbo). My non turbo vacuum pump had only one hose running to it (on the black connection on the vacuum pump). On my 740 Turbo I took off the second vacuum hose connected to the (white connection on the vacuum pump) and went out to test it and found that the curise control now works as it shood. That problem is solved.
Question: Where is the end of this hose suppose to go that was on the white connection of the vacuum pump (or should it be blocked off?) when I got the car? Just for clarification I should add that this hose goes into the dash area and to the computer just to the left of the steering wheel and is connected to the intake manifold providing manifold vacuum information (or at least I am assuming it does). Right now I simply have the hose end blocked off to provide vacuum info to the computer.
I will appeciate your input on this.
