ELECTRIC FAN IS NOT WORTH CONVERSION!!!! 200 1987

I installed an electric fan to my 87 240 (i replaced the fan clutch with the electric).The fan cools and does its job but is very loud at idle. i have it hooked to a pilot switch right now inside the car . the fan is from a 92/93 Grand Prix. i installed becuz many people said Electric fans are quiet but i found my stock fan is quiter. Will putting the fan shroud on make a differnce?
