Where does the instrument cluster ground?, & Speedometer needle? 200 1980

Well, I thought I had figured out the ground problem I had with my instrument cluster, but it came back.

I looked in the Haynes for a wiring diagram. It told me which colors go where, but it didn't tell me what the colors meant.

Also, I took the circut board out to take a closer look, and in the process dropped the speedometer. It didn't fall far or hard, but it was enough to brake the needle off.

Is it possible to replace the neddle only? I really don't want to put a new speedometer in. I doubt I'd be able to find a replacement with 419K miles on it.
