He board,
Long time no post :-/
Recently my 91 740 n/a has lost its power on the highway. The car would be FINE until about 58 MPH and once past that speed the car would hesitate and buck almost as if it was missing spark on a cylinder. Then it would magically stop and the car would run fine, then start again and I think it is here for good. The car sounds like crap and has NO power. I have checked the plugs and wires, all seem ok but I may as well spend 10 bucks and get new plugs just in case. BTW, when on the highway last night I pulled over to see if maybe the wires were cracked and grounding, they were not but to my surprise the exhaust manifold was chery red as was the outlet of the cat convertor. I know this can happen with turbos but is it reasonable on a n/a ? I am thinking maybe a plugged cat or maybe the FPR is junk? More or less wondering about the red manifold, BTW was at about 65 and RPM in O/D was about 2750.
Thanks for any ideas !
ALSO....I just pulled a plug out and it was melted. ANy ideas?
cheers,
steve
