what to look for in a 900 900

Hi all, I am a Volvo owner frequently cruising the 200 area. I am taking a friend to look at a 91(?)940 turbo sedan. I have seen this car a few times on the lot, but never drove it. I am told the turbo works. Has new alternator. New tires. No rust. It has 148k, It's a little bit dinged up. Auto gear shifter goes into all gears when parked with the engine off. Just painted, and I can tell it has been wrecked. What kind of price tag would be fair, I know I gave little info, but any estimates? The asking price is $2200.
Second topic, If the turbo went out, would it be possible to just by-pass it? Would it preform like a 940 non-turbo? Or is there more involved in turbo engines? Would it be an easy job to swap one from the boneyard?
Third area of ponder, What should I look for as far as a reason not to buy.
Are 900 series as reliable as my 1979 245dl? Any little quarks I should look for? Thanks in advance...
