valve spring seat removal 200 1986

So I'm heading into my valve spring fix project...got the cam and everything off an an hour and now it's quite obvious that the spring is in a couple pieces...valve don't work right at that point. So my question is: how the heck do you remove the spring seat? I must be stupid, because I can't figure out how the dumb thing clips on, and I don't want to go and do something stupid to the valve which will make me have to take the head off. Bentley is remarkably silent on this issue, just stating "remove the valve spring seats" which doesn't help me one bit. Thanks again,
