A question about clutch cable resistance??? 200 1981

Hello all,
Been having trouble getting on to the site, don't know why. Anyway, I have a 1981 Volvo M-46 equipped. And a 1982 Volvo M-46 equipped. Both clutches are new and activated by a cable. Question, why is the 82 pedal so soft. There is almost no resistance compared to my 81. What's different? Is this an indication of a problem? It seems to work ok, just very little resistance while pressing the clutch down. There's no play at the top of the pedal, I've adjusted it out, still little resistance. Or is it my 81 that should have less resistance. I'm kinda of new to the world of manual trannys so any info would be helpful.
Thanks
Chuck Jaxel...
