Ive recently just purchased an '82 244 glt four speed with overdrive. My first Volvo with manual transmission.
When I first learnd to drive a stick shift I was taught to downshift when slowing down and coming to a stop.
I've always wondered if this is a bad thing? Will it wear out the engine and the transmission quicker, or should I just step on the breaks when slowing /stopping? I drove an '87 Honda Accord for ten years in this manner and never had any trans/engine problems.
I'd love to hear your opinions on this!
