BIG HOLE BELOW INTAKE MANIFOLD!? 200

Hi,

There seems to be a big hole below the intake manifold that is pretty greesy looking, it appears to be metal, and there is another (metal?) thing that kind of comes up to but not quite connects to it. The hole is kindof oval shaped and maybe like 1.5 inches on the long diameter and maybe like 1 inch on the short diameter.

Any idea what this is? I haven't been able to get in close enough to see if it's just a tube thats loose. Is this the flame hole?? Doesn't look right at all. Would this be a vacume type issue?
